Member of Scottish Parliament (MSP) meets Jim Casey to discuss wide ranging green iniatives
Sandra White, MSP, invited me to a meeting to discuss the main issues concerning SMEs in the current economic climate. I informed Sandra that now is not the time to abandon green initiaives and she was supportive to my vision and plans to reduce the amount of wood going to landfill sites. Did you know that “about 85% of waste wood in the UK goes to landfill.. from building firms to local councils, organisations dump around 8.5m tons of wood into holes in the ground every year” according to The Sunday Times (9 Nov 08, Section 3 Business, Recycling sees the big picture pp IV). This is a travisty considering the many uses and reuses this wood could provide. As such, with anticipated Scottish Parliamentry support, I am planning to to hold a ‘Wood Recycling’ summit in early 2009 with key service suppliers to the forestry and commerical tree management to set up the vision, plan and infrastructure to reduce the current 85% wood landfill rate to 30% within the next five years. If you want to join the summit or find out more on this subject, complete the contact form and I’ll be in touch shortly.
